The First Week

Me in Melbourne at 7am on our second day.
We walked. A lot. The morning after we arrived, we woke at 5.30am. We were so eager to look around us we got up and started exploring Melbourne. We spent the next six hours walking non-stop, taking mental notes of what we wanted to come back to do or see. Then we collapsed into bed and had a nap right through to 11pm.

After a few days, we mastered normal waking hours. We took a boat trip down the Yarra River, through Melbourne and down to the Docklands. It was very glamorous. We struck up a camera companionship with a smiley Asian man, and took turns taking pictures of each other in front of all the sights.

That Night...

We went drinking in our friend's hostel bar one night that week. I did the shuffle. I fell. That's all I'll say about that night.

I hear the train a-coming...

The pose was his idea too.
The Sunday after we arrived in Melbourne, we went on the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. I bought the gift voucher for Barney's 30th birthday online before we came to Australia. It was amazing. The service was great. The waiter made us feel like a million bucks and we got to see all around Melbourne while drinking Champagne and wine, and enjoying a three course meal. On the way to the tram-stop we were caught in a downpour! It all added to the romance though. By the time we got off the tram, the sun was out again and we were all starry-eyed from the wine. A wonderful evening all-round.
